A sudden gleam across the darkness
Falling from the sky
It came down quickly from the mountains
Quiet as a sigh
It slithered down into the valley
Moving like a wave
Arriving with the purpose
Our sins to lave
Relieving
Subduing
The sweetest lie
Comforting
And soothing
A soft-sung lullaby
It diffused into the cities
All across the land
And struck hard with resolution
With a godly hand
Grim, towering piles of bodies
Like we'd never seen
The corpses looked contented
Peaceful and serene
Around us
Inside us
It's everywhere
It's taking
And wasting
Our final breath of air
Diseased and rotting bodies
Lying on the ground
Death throes and ghastly torment
A horrifying sound
A grotesque, repugnant image
A macabre dance
The Hex has overwhelmed us
Leaving us no chance
It burned us
and wrecked us
Razed us to the ground
It drowned us
Consumed us
No hope was to be found
This unrelenting thrashing
Was the end of life
Close behind it surely followed
Despondency and strife
An endless tomb of anguish
Is our world become
Morbid wails climb to the heavens
The vacant skies above
Around us
Inside us
It's everywhere
It's taking
And wasting
Our final breath of air

I picked this one up in advance of a holiday trip. In these times I always need some softer music for my companion which rocks only a little. But SPIRAL GURU's cool 70s influenced psychedelic rock even rocks a bit more. Usually this is not my genre, stuf like Spiritual Beggars or the like, but SPIRAL GURU is definitely charming, maybe because of the female vocals. Further the songs are not too psychedelic, they have a solid catchiness. Check "Signs" or "Oracle". H.L.
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021

Nasty occult stoner doom. Those fuzzy riffs are awesome and the psychedelic vocals are insane. Put your headphones on, grab a bottle of beer and listen to this while you sacrifice your enemies. Sælzer Bub
